I.D. MAGAZINE's origin:

Before I created I.D. Magazine, I knew about photography because that is one of my father's favorite hobbies- in fact, you can check his art at Pulpolux! on Flickr. I was also very much into design, and in 2016, I was required to make a magazine for a 9th grade chemistry project when I was still studying in Mexico City- but my teammate and I were a little too extra and ended up with a 32-page magazine created in a week and a half. This magazine, Ilustra, was created on Word (the icon and logo made on Paint- such advanced programs, I know), and it only consisted in investigating, no interviewing. I, personally, love magazines, and it has always been a dream of mine to make one that looks as professional as, say, Time, The Atlantic, or National Geographic. So for I.D., I wanted to improve my writing and communication skills- one step closer to what a real magazine is like. I.D. Magazine may not be printed, but it includes personal photography and interviews, something that I had never done before. Perhaps in a couple months, or years, you'll see I.D. magazine on a regular newspaper rack, alongside The New Yorker and The Atlantic. In the meanwhile, please appreciate I.D. and check what Ilustra looked like, the inspiration: (The version in Spanish is the only one available).

If you are interested in seeing how my father's photography was part of my inspiration for this magazine, check his artwork out at PulpoluX!!!'s flickr. (click here)

 I.D. - A MAGAZINE ABOUT IDENTITY:

I.D was created with the purpose to help teenagers have a voice, and express any opinion they desire. Today, it is common to fall into prejudices due to someone's perspective, because it may be easy to assume that they are conservative, or liberal, or that just because of their religion or way of living, they don't support the same things you or me do. However, this is not always true! There are many wonderful people among us, and if we want to learn to get along in such a fragile society, we need to learn to listen. Have you ever considered why someone is pro-second Amendment, or what it feels like to have risked your life crossing the border? It is, in fact, very interesting and humbling to learn why people think what they think, and why they are who they are. That is why I.D. represents identity.
